2025, SOS – Black Label Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir – Yarra Valley 13.0% Alc 500 dozen
$40.00
The wine: Pinot Noir from Gruyere is aromatic and lifted, with violets, blueberries and bright raspberry fruit. Light on its feet but full of flavour, it has a crisp, energetic quality that highlights the purity of the fruit. The Yarra Valley is shaped by a diversity of microclimates, with each site bringing its own character to the wines. The Brooklands vineyard in Tarrawarra produces a more substantial style of Pinot Noir, with dark plum, deeper fruit and an earthy complexity. The palate is fuller and more textured, with a velvety feel and greater weight.
Eat with: beetroot and goat cheese tart
Harvest: The Black Label brings these two sites together. The lifted floral character and vibrant red fruit of Gruyere meet the darker, plummy depth of Tarrawarra, creating a wine with both energy and substance, and a subtle earthy complexity.
Both parcels were fully destemmed and inoculated, with the 2025 vintage given a slightly longer three-week maceration to build structure and contribute to its more brooding character. After 10 months in tank, the wine was bottled with minimal SO₂.
