This wine is the marriage of two sites.
The Yarraloch vineyard sits high up on a ridge to the east over the Yarra Valley. The vineyard is steep and the produces fruit that makes wine of vibrancy and verve. Brown Brooke Estate is a 25-year-old vineyard on the edge of the valley floor. The fruit here produced wine of suppleness and generosity. Together the two give us a wine that is both structured and generous.
Drinking beautifully now the wine will continue developing on this pathway for several more years.
2019 Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir
Typical bright crimson colour and a fragrant aroma of red berries and spice speak clearly of the Mornington Peninsula.
Punchy lifted fruit characters on the palate that suggest raspberry and cherry lead through to a softening mid-palate with great texture. The length once again provides evidence of the origin with lingering elements of darker red fruits.
A bright fresh wine exuding fruit with plenty of fresh acidity to keep the berries lingering.
The Syme on Yarra vineyard was part of the original Killara Station which was the genesis for farming the Gruyere region.
The Syme on Yarra project was set up 10 years ago for the 1,000 Candles label to farm grapes using the principals of biodiversity which aim to enhance the environment in which the vines grow. Over time this vineyard has developed a reputation for producing fruit of the highest quality. The grapes are always super healthy and do not require any intervention to produce high quality wine.
Fresh and graceful the wine offers a great depth of fruit and sense of place.
