2021 SOS ‘Mornington Peninsula’ Pinot Noir
$30.00
Tasting notes: Bright red colour with classic Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, and cherry as well as rose petals and cardamom. The palate is finely structured showing more red fruit characters and subtle oak with spicy notes of black pepper with vanilla and fennel seed. The 2021 Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir has great texture, weight and balance.
Eat: Peking duck pancakes or Garlicy, herby mushroom pizza with heaps of parmesan
Do: draw, paint, sing, doodle, drag out the pottery wheel, stare at the sky
Fruit: 2021 brought light crops to our grower Alberto Frassoni at Desiro Vineyard in Hastings. The cooler summer presented lovey aromatic fruit in perfect condition.
Tech notes: The hand-picked fruit came into the winery in the first week of March at 12.5Be and was fully destemmed into one large fermenter. The wine was fermented for 10 days on skins with only a short daily pump over, to minimise the extraction. Once finished the pressed wine was racked to seasoned oak for 10 months, with a lick of SO2. Filtered with a final small sulphur addition, the wine went into bottle early in 2022.
After a further 12 months in bottle the wine was released in mid 2023.
